Space Adventures announced wednesday,it is planning a mission to the dark side of the moon, rocketing a few wealthy and courageous souls into orbit. The CEO of the Arlington, Virginia company says the first mission lasting just over a week or up to three weeks could happen as early as 2008. "We are going to show the world that it is possible for private efforts to finance missions of this magnitude."
Millionaire Dennis Tito was the first to take a private trip with Space Adventrues, visiting the space station 4 years ago. "It's a great trip here,and i love space." The 100 million dollars price tag covers planning and training for the mission as well as modifying a modern Soyuz space craft for the trip.
The capsule has 10 cubic meters of crew space, about the size of a large suv. Space Adventures' next mission is coming up on October1.
