Nothing to Save
(Originally in Chinese)
A salesman was trying to persuade a housewife to
buy a refrigerator. He told her it would save her
a lot of money because it was state-of-the-art and
power-saving, and would save her shopping time
as well as gasoline for the drive to the food store.
The housewife answered, "Let me tell you the truth:
We have 'saved' too much already! We have saved to
pay the loan for our new car; we have saved to
pay the mortgage for the house we live in;
we have saved to pay for our children's college
education; we have saved for the upcoming
Christmas holiday; we have saved to buy a
new dishwasher too! And now we have no more money to 'save'!"
无钱可省
有一个推销员想说服一个家庭主妇买冰箱，他对主妇说买
这种冰箱可以节省很多钱，因为它是新型的，不会那么耗电，
还可以节省很多买菜的时间和去买菜加油的钱等等。那个太太
听完后说：‘我告诉你，我们已经节省很多了！我们节省为了
要付新车的贷款；我们的房子也是贷款买的，我们也要节省；
小孩上大学，我们也要节省；现在圣诞节到了，我们也要节省；
然后为了买那个新的洗碗机，我们也要节省！
现在我们已经没钱可以节省了！’ |
