A butcher was on his way back home late in the afternoon. Inside his carrying poles there were only some pig bones left. Two wolves were stalking him for a long time.
The butcher felt kind of frightened and cast some bones to them. One wolf gained the bone and stopped, while the other was still following. The butcher cast bones again and stopped him, but the former wolf came again. After all the bones were ran out, two wolves stalked the butcher as usual.
The butcher felt greatly anxious, for fear that he would be attacked by the two wolves, with one in front and the other at back. He looked around the spot a wheat field where the owner had stacked firewood as a small mountain. The butcher came to the firewood, put down his carrying poles and held a long knife in his hands. The wolves were staring at him without approaching him.
After a while, a wolf went away, leaving the other sitting in front of the butcher like a dog. The sitting wolf kept his gesture for a long time and seemed like sleeping leisurely. The butcher stood up all of a sudden and hacked the wolf’s head. Then he hacked the wolf’s body several times to kill him. Then he intended to leave, but when he turned around to the back of the firewood, he discovered the other wolf was digging the firewood to attack him at the back. Now the wolf’s body had already been half into the wood and only his hip and tail were outside. The butcher then hacked the wolf’s back and killed him. Not until then did he realize the former wolf was only misleading him by pretending to sleep.
The two wolves were cunning, but both were killed in a short time. How many tricky means can animals play? All these tricky means can only turn out to be funny jokes for human beings. |
