A Distinguished Member of Our Website
Earnestly and ceremoniously, I would like to introduce a distinguished member of our website--www.ebigear.com, his name is Lai Xiaoqi.
I got to know Mr. Lai Xiaoqi through www.ebigear.com. He has published many poems and proses on the website. After reading most of his publications, I was greatly touched by his enthusiastic passion in English learning and exuberant talent in literary performance. His love towards English is tireless and unfathomable, and his pursuit in English is inexhaustible and indefatigable. To quote his own words: "to treat English as a faithful and unfailing lover." By holding an ardent and unquenchable desire, through making uninterrupted and unremitting practice, he has been carrying his English from perfection to culmination.
What makes us more admired is that his Chinese is marvelously wonderful. Mr. Lai always publishes his articles in bilingual forms, from which we could caught glimpses of his exceptional accomplishments in Chinese writing. He composed many Chinese poems in which infused both classical and modern flavors. His achievement and deftness in Chinese writing is nothing short of a consummation. When publishing Chinese poetry, more often than not, he would translate his Chinese poems into English by himself, leaving no rooms for others to take the honor for the translation. This time, however, he left one of his excellent Chinese poems untranslated, so I take the opportunity to translate it. The translation is never good, it might be a flaw on a piece of jade, or a blotch upon a white sheet. Nevertheless, I can't resist the temptation to have Mr.s Lai's beautiful poem translated as following.
浮 沉 作者: 赖小琪 (原创)
其实, 我不想再天真.
其实, 我不想再打开那扇门.
我只想让心房尘封,
管它是银楼, 还是金粉.
情感却在悄悄扎根,
伤痛在渐渐露痕.
寂寞梧桐, 庭院深深.
细月如钩锁清晨.
是秋愁, 还是春恨?
蓦然回首, 依旧风尘.
我一直在人海中浮沉.
A Floating Life (Translation)
I am no longer innocent
The door had closed to me
I would rather keep my heart shut
Stow away all the past
Some memories remain dormant
Others boisterous and rampant
Trees rustling in the courtyard
A crescent moon awaiting the morn
Melancholy keeps haunting upon mind
Looking back, I get lost all of a sudden
I am floating in life as ever
