第一轮的公司答辩终于在昨天结束了. 在回答完评委的最后一个问题而走出会议室时, 我感到空前的如释重负, 本来绷紧的神经顿时松弛了下来. 之前为了这个答辩真的精筋力尽. 我不记得自己花了多少时间去做PPT, 花了多少时间改PPT, 花了多少时间写演讲稿和练习. 特别是在答辩前的一天, 导师和我练了三次, 每次练完都指出一堆问题让我改, 半个小时后再练, 一直折腾到晚上七点半. 事情却还没完, 回到家后, 我还要继续改PPT和演讲稿, 一直弄到晚上十二点多才睡. 躺下床的那一刻, 我真的感到身心俱疲, 因为我的脑子一片混乱, 感觉明天的演讲和答辩都要全军覆没一样.
答辩当天很早就起床了. 早上要参加商务实习培训, 根本没有练习的时间. 中午导师再抽空和我练了一次, 再指出一些小问题让我注意一下. 然后, 我就静静地等待着答辩的开始. 其实准备演讲还只是很小的一部分, 更多的是要做好充分的准备以应对下面评委的问题. 答辩开始了, 整个过程我居然一点紧张感也没有. 十五分钟的演讲结束后, 接下来的是接受评委们的 “炮轰”. 一直听说云杨老师是最好的, 现场见了果然如此. 她问的问题都相对比较简单而且很为人很和善, 让人感到很亲切. 本来预期Hugo的问题会很难的, 可是当时却觉得还可以接受, 不知道是我进步了还是他没有太为难我. 最难的莫于过最后一个评委了. 他问的问题真的太刁钻了, 让我一时之间有点无所适从. 但是我也很快适应了他的方式并且和他展开激烈的辩论. 说实话自从回国以后我很久没有进行这么长时间的英语辩论了, 所以当时感觉真的很刺激, 尽管当时压力也挺大的. 我本身就是一个比较兴奋的人, 所以在和那个老师争辩的过程中我说得很快而且声音也很理直气壮, 结果最后我的导师和我开玩笑说, 他们怕我们会吵起来甚至打起来了. 呵呵.
答辩一共持续了四十多分钟才结束. 后面我就离开会议室, 在外面等通知, 而评委们和我的导师在里面反馈我的表现并且评分, 以决定我是否能通过答辩. 大约十分钟后, 我的导师出来了, 笑着和我说: “你的临场表现和反应不错!” 当我听了这句话时, 我就知道我通过了, 心头大石也放下了. 再次进会议室拿电脑时, Hugo笑着对我说: “这次表现得很不错, 继续加油!” 我当时以为我听错了, 因为他一直在我的心中是一个很严格的interviewer, 只会挑别人毛病, 很少表扬别人的. 这次答辩虽然是三轮中是最容易的, 但是却给了我很大的鼓舞. 我相信只要我努力, 在接下来两个月的两轮答辩中一定会通过甚至取得好成绩的!
真的希望快点完成剩下两个月的培训然后顺利转正, 这样我的压力或许会小很多. 不过话说回来, 在迈瑞的这段日子里我觉得自己学到了很多东西, 得到了很大的鞭策和磨砺! 我心里是非常感激公司对我们国际销售的新员工的培养的! 感觉每一期的培训都有很大的收获, 尽管压力也不断增加. 像这两天进行的商务实习, 让我们更好的了解了国际业务的一些流程, 以前很多不懂的问题在这两天都似乎得到了解答, 所以心里还是挺欣慰的! 当然, 我还要感谢其他的和我一起入职的新同事们, 感谢大家一路上对我的帮助和照顾! 不知不觉间, 我们也成为了好朋友了. 希望在以后的日子里, 我们会合作愉快, 建立起深厚的友谊!

我的答辩演讲稿:
Good Afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I am Edison from Mindray. Today I feel great honor to stand here and introduce my company to you and if you have any questions, you can ask me during or after this presentation.
As you can see on the screen, my introduction will fall into four sessions: the introduction of Mindray, the assurance from Mindray, the achievements we have made and the social responsibility we have shouldered.
First of all, let’s take a look at the history of our company. I believe before you came here, you have already learnt something about it. As you may know, Mindray was founded in 1991 in Shenzhen, the first special economic zone and the most innovative city in China. Since then, we have spared no efforts to develop in a fast and steady way and our efforts finally paid off. In 2006, Mindray was successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange, which was landmark for it to fully utilize the international capital to expand its global presence. Then in 2008, we successfully acquired Datascope’s patient monitoring business and obtained the No.3 global market share. We have integrated Datascope’s technological and distributing resources with ours to achieve maximum performance. Altogether, we are a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices.
Every company was established with a mission and vision. It is carrying the significance of the company and the value it will generate to the society. So you may wonder what is Mindray’s mission and vision? As you can see, our vision is: We will make better healthcare solutions more accessible to humanity. And our mission is : Improve healthcare by optimizing and sharing medical technologies with the world. From our mission and vision, you can learn that Mindray is developing on the belief that every life is valuable. As expensive and complex technology still remains out of reach for the majority of people, we are striving to improve healthcare by optimizing and sharing medical technologies with the world.
Bearing our mission and vision in mind, we have been developing at a staggering rate over the past twenty years. Today we have 31 branch offices in China, 20 overseas subsidiaries and 9 R&D centers globally. Let’s take a snapshot at some of the R&D centers. Different R&D centers are specialized in different fields. For instance, the Beijing R&D center is mainly engaged in ultrasound, hematology and reagent technologies while the Mahwah R&D center focuses on patient monitoring technologies. In order to fully utilize our R&D facilities to develop more new products, every year, we invest around 10% of our total sales revenue in R&D and we attach great importance to our talent cultivation. That is why we have more than 1200 patents and develop 7-10 new products every year. It means we can provide new products with better functions for our customers on a regular basis, which can help us to occupy a larger market share continuously.
On top of owning superior R&D centers, we also possess state-of-the-art laboratories and manufacturing centers. After we design a new product, we would firstly test it in our labs. If the product passes a series of tests, it will finally be put into production in our manufacturing centers. Our manufacturing centers are the biggest medical device manufacturing centers in Asia and enjoy high productivity. We can arrange our production according to our customers’ requirement and realize timely delivery. With all these superiorities, we can present our best assurance to our customers worldwide. That is the second session I am going to elaborate on.
As you can see, there are three assurances we can promise: complete product portfolio, trustworthy performance and close to customers. First of all, let’s take a look at our product portfolio. There are mainly three business segments for our products: patient monitoring & life support, in-vitro diagnostic and medical imaging systems. For each of our production lines, we provide high-quality products. For example, in terms of patient monitoring & life support, we provide multi-parameter patient monitors, vital signs patient monitors, telemetry, etc. These products can suit different medical environments such as in the general ward, OR, ER and so on. Moreover, our products can target different tiers of the market, from the low-end to the high-end, which can better meet our customers’ needs. Worth mentioning, we not only provide products by unit, but also work out the best total solutions for our customers, which can improve the efficiency of clinical treatment and lower the overall costs for hospitals. For example, in our OR solution, we integrate a series of our products like patient monitors, anesthesia machines, operating table, surgical light and so on, to achieve inter-operability of different equipments. Moreover, we provide super network solutions that can help hospitals better manage the information in different rooms such as ICU and general wards. For the in-vitro diagnostic products, we are proud to be one of the few companies in the world able to produce advanced equipments such as the five-part differentiation hematology analyzer and chemistry automation system. As with the medical imaging system, we pride ourselves on the digital color Doppler ultrasound device. As time is limited, I cannot explain our products in detail. The second assurance we can give you is trustworthy performance. It is based on our stringent R&D quality control and manufacturing quality control. For example, there are various tests in the R&D quality control including general safety test, climatic environment test and so on. As you can see on the screen, because of our strict quality control, our products have gained a series of certifications such as ISO 9001 and FDA clearance. For my production line, our patient monitors have gained CE mark and FDA clearance in 2000 and 2004 respectively. All these certifications can fully demonstrate our commitment on quality to you!
The third assurance we can give you is “close to customers”. Hearing this, you may wonder how close we can stay with you. I will reveal the answer to you now. First of all, we provide fast and concise service. We have service centers in 16 countries and 24-hour hotlines in China, America, Russia and India. Therefore, we can offer you timely service and track every case with our best efforts. We will deliver our products on a strictly timely basis and you do not need to worry about late delivery. Secondly, we provide robust technical support. We have a strong team of qualified engineers and technicians who can solve your problems in an effective and efficient manner. Last but not least, we can provide you with value-added services. We have comprehensive training courses and every year, more than 1000 customers receive our training courses around the world and they all speak highly of it! These courses can not only teach our customers how to better manipulate our products, but also help the sales people to better understand and promote our products.
Due to our strong commitment and unchanged assurance to our customers, we have made huge achievements over the past 20 years. As you can see, our sales revenue has been climbing rapidly to over 700 million USD in 2010. Even in the financial crisis, we still showed a robust growth. The latest figure for 2011 has not been made public yet, but I can tell you the number is around 878 million USD.
Now let’s continue to take a look at the market performance for each of our production lines. As you can see, among all excellent products, our patient monitors enjoy the best performance, ranking No. 3 in the world and No.1 in China. Let’s further take a look at our patient monitoring market. Our patient monitors have been exported to more than 140 countries and won a number of awards worldwide. It means our products have been widely recognized and welcomed by our customers worldwide.
Finally we come to the last session of this presentation. That is our sense of social responsibility. We always bear humanity in mind by launching a broad range of humanitarian activities worldwide. For instance, we have donated money as well as medical equipments to the tsunami-stricken areas in 2004 and earthquake-stricken areas in China in 2008. Also, we have built some schools for Children in poor areas to support their education. Therefore, we enjoy a high reputation among the public both domestically and internationally. You will also feel proud of yourself as one of our distributors.
Altogether, from my presentation, you can see that Mindray is one of the leading players in medical device market and we still have great potential to grow! We are looking forward to cooperating with our potential partners to realize our dream together! Thank you very much for your listening! |
