The Crow and the Water Jar
A thirsty crow discovered a larger jar with a small amount of water at the bottom. He hoped on the rim and dipped his beak inside, but found that he could not lean down far enough to drink. Then he tried to spill the water on the ground, but the jar was too heavy for him to tip.
He thought for a long time and then picked up a pebble and dropped it into the jar. He dropped in another pebble and then another, and each one made the level of the water rise a little, until he had dropped in so many that the water reached the top of the jar and he could drink.
