我发觉, 不管我今后从事什么工作, 我的一生都会和英语, 和雅思紧紧的联系在一起. 我曾以为, 我入职迈瑞以后, 我会和雅思培训完全脱离关系, 可是事实却不是如此. 如今的我, 几乎依然天天和雅思打交道. 我正在用那工作之余少得可怜的时间, 在教着某些学生. 这些学生之中, 我真正长期教的, 只有一位, 他也是我的好朋友. 而其他的, 由于我的时间有限, 只能在他们冲刺考试前给他们作文或者口语一些短暂的指导. 而这些时间都是在百忙中抽出来的, 而且也是看在他们渴求成功的基础上给予他们的帮助. 当然, 这也说不上 “帮助”, 毕竟我不是无偿地教他们, 我也是要收钱的. 但是如果不是看在他们求学心切的分上, 如果真的可以让我毫无顾忌地作出选择的话, 我会选择不教, 因为我想拥有更多自己的时间, 而这些时间并不是用金钱可以衡量的.
不过, 在教他们的过程中, 我并没有丝毫的后悔与不悦, 因为他们的刻苦与孜孜孜不倦, 他们的毅力与坚持不懈, 总是深深地感染着我, 让我不断地反思自身, 思考着自己未来的人生之路应该如何走下去才会更有意义. 而很多时候, 除了佩服他们之外, 我也同情他们, 特别是那些英语底子不太好却又需要考取一定分数的学生. 他们经常会向我诉苦, 讲述雅思备战中的总总难以克服的困难, 讲述越到后面感觉进展越慢. 而对于这些问题, 作为老师的我, 其实在很多时候是爱莫能助的, 因为归根结底, 解决问题的方法只有四个字:继续努力. 学习外语不同于学习数学,物理等别的科目. 学习物理时, 如果你可以完全把课本理解透了, 或许做起题来就有如神助, 融会贯通, 学习效率可能很高. 但是学习英语却大相径庭. 英语知识, 如词汇知识和语法知识, 犹如一张无边无际的网, 让你收也收不完. 再者, 学好了词汇和语法只是你成功的其中两步, 你的听说读写能力还需要更大的苦功, 才能渐渐成形. 你只有通过大量的阅读, 写作以及听说, 才能将英语学到一定的境界. 而你要是想达到炉火纯青的地步, 要付的时间和精力恐怕还远不止于此. 所以我觉得, 学习英语就好比是在建造一条万里长城, 需要你天天在烈日下挥汗劳作.
经常有学生或者朋友会问我: “学习英语有什么好的方法吗?” 我对这个看似简单的问题实在是语塞. 有些人甚至更直接地问我: “学习英语有捷径吗?” 这时我会反问: “如果有捷径, 我当初为什么还要这么刻苦?” 其实, 我从来就不认为把某件事情做成功会有什么捷径, 特别是在求学的路上. 我不排除有些天才式的人物可以比我用少得多的时间却可以把外语学得比我好. 但是我得承认我不是天才, 我在外语上也不见得比别人的天赋高. 但是有一点我可以为自己作出肯定: 我在学习英语上是很严谨认真的.
很多学习英语的人很勤奋, 但是这并不代表他们 “严谨认真”. 这类英语学习者本着的观念是 “我会在生活中使用英语即可”, 他们并不追求英语的完美性和准确性. 比如说某个词用错了, 他们可以不以为意, 觉得只要对方明白意思就行, 不必过分挑剔. 但是我却无法做到这样. 我在英语上有一种近似于 “强迫症” 的完美要求性, 尽量要求将英语运用得最准确. 拿写作来讲, 我难以容忍任何的拼写和语法错误, 更难以容忍那些辞不达意的现象. 很多时候, 一个词甚至一个标点符号的用错, 都会引起整句话的意思变味. 还有单词的大小写意思也有可能不同, 所以这让我不得不仔细探究任何一个细节. 这些看似很小的问题, 要是发生在重要的事情, 比如说合同上, 那可就真的会产生很严重的后果. 所以一直以来我都会很严格地要求自己的学生, 这可能也会让他们感到挺大的压力. 不过我想, 这对于他们长远发展来讲一定是一件好事, 因为只有这样扎扎实实地学, 你最后才会感觉和英语亲密无间, 而不是总是觉得, 不管你怎么学, 你和她之前总是有一层屏障, 不管这层屏障有多薄.
每天打开邮箱, 有相当一部分邮件是咨询雅思和出国事情的. 还有就是问我还教不教雅思, 说要报我的班或者请我做私人老师之类的. 其实我也很想继续教, 可是我也实在是没有时间了, 所以很多都被我拒绝了. 有时候我会给对方出一个很高的价钱, 让别人 “知难而退”, 其实我也是没有办法的. 所以, 请曾经想请我做私人家教而被我拒绝的各位朋友们原谅我吧. 其实我并不是深圳唯一一个雅思老师, 我也相信你们会找到更好的! 突然发现, 师生关系也是一种缘份, 有时候是可遇不可求的.

In the past, due to the underdevelopment of technology and the limited reach of internet, teachers used to be the main source of information for children. What children could access mainly came from their textbooks and teachers. However, nowadays some people think that teachers do not play as an important role as before because of the increasing variety of information sources such as Internet, TV, newspaper, etc.
There is a great deal in the truth that children can reach various information without the help of teachers nowadays. Particularly in some modern big cities, with the growing popularization of computers and internet in most households, many children can maneuver computers very skillfully. On top of gaining knowledge from textbooks and teachers, they can also approach diverse information online which could barely be accessed in the past.
Nevertheless, the role teachers play in children’s development shall by no means be played down. Teachers are the still the main source for children’s intake of information especially in the sense of science knowledge like mathematics. Without teachers’ detailed and patient explanation, children can hardly learn science knowledge by themselves via books or computers. Another significant point worth mentioning is that not only do teachers impart knowledge to their students, they can also guide their students to identify useful and practical information and even help them foster the ability of distinguishing right from wrong, which could prevent children being misled by the negative information to the wrong track.
Therefore, we should applaud for the increasing information sources for children in this era, but at the same time, rather than understating the significance of teachers in current society, we should further strengthen their functions in educating children to develop all-round abilities in this information-overload age. |
