A court in Taiwan recently rejected the appeal of a woman for NT$10 million ($291,375) in compensation for her boyfriend's refusal to honor a marriage agreement.
The woman had divorced her husband after falling in love with the man surnamed Wei. However Wei's parents were unwilling to accept her and his father suffered a heart attack.
Wei then signed an agreement with the woman promising to marry her after his father's death or pay her NT$10 million in compensation. Wei later reneged and was brought to court by the woman. The judge ruled that the agreement was made against the man's will, and was therefore invalid. |
