My View on Life
What is the favor of life? I do not know. Life is just like drinking water in winter, only those who drink it know what’s what by their own experience. In a sense, life is a rose, and no one can explain it clear whether it is a lovely flower with more thorns or a thorny flower which is delicate and charming beyond compare. In order to avoid getting hurt by the thorns, somebody would like to stay a certain distance from the rose, but they do not realize that they will lose the chance to enjoy the rose’s delicacy at the same time. Every coin has two sides, life is also without exception. To be brief, it goes without saying that life is bittersweet. Only those who are good at savoring it can get the true flavor of life.
Suppose you are given a chance to choose any lifestyle at your own sweet will, what will your expected life be, bitter or sweet? Maybe somebody is complaining about the boredom of life and pursuing sweetness at his utmost now. On the contrary, it is also possible that somebody is too happy to be aware of the existence of happiness and feels blue all day.
Never in my life did I know what life is and what the flavor of life is. I only know the fact that life is considered to be bitter and sweet at the same time. It always depends. Many people have experienced the ups and downs of life, while many others are still at sea.
Now I realize that life is supposed to be savored by ourselves. Bitter or sweet, others never know. So first of all, we are to adopt a true attitude towards life. We shall no longer expect life to be filled with happiness only. What’s more, we are to stop complaining the bitterness of life all day. We must make it clear in our mind that life is bittersweet. As Kahlil Gibran said, “Your joy is your sorrow unmarked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.”
I am nineteen and in half a year will be turning twenty. And I am insecure about entering a new decade of my life and feared that my best years are now behind me. More often than not, I wonder how I will look back on my life once I reach my mother’s age. As a matter of fact, I am totally wrong. When I was a child in my hometown and everything was taken care of for me and I was nurtured by my parents, it was the best time of my life. When I was going to school and learning the things I know today, it was the best time of my life.
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
All in all, life is bittersweet. |
