They were college schoolmates. Both worked for the Student Union. Once or twice they needed to work together. But it was only seldom. He respected her very much. Because he thought she performed well in her major, and she was a kind girl. But that was all in his mind.
One afternoon before Christmas, she heard that he hadn't had his breakfast or lunch. That was because he was busy preparing for the Christmas get-together all those days. Next morning, she bought something for his lunch, including a chicken leg, and tomatoes with eggs, maybe.
The following was what he didn't know at that time. She had spent almost all her money left in her meal card, though there was only ten yuan or more in it. Neither did he know that she would be hungry for one or two meals after she took the chicken leg for him. She had to waited for several days to get money from her parents.
If he had known all about this, he couldn't have had a pleasant meal that noon. He was deeply moved.

他和她是大学同学。当时都在学生会，工作上有一点联系，但不多。他很敬重她，觉得她的学习很优秀，而且人也很好。不过仅此而已。
圣诞节前的一个下午，她听到他说，为了忙圣诞联欢会，他已经两顿饭没吃了。第二天中午她给他买了饭，有一个鸡腿，好像还有西红柿炒鸡蛋。
他当时不知道她是用饭卡里仅剩的十几块钱买来的，也不知道买了鸡腿，她是不是会在回家拿钱的前几天，挨上一顿两顿的饿。如果当时知道这些，也许会吃不下去的。他很感动。
