Today many of my friends and students who have fooled around my zone and spotted the poem I wrote in the earlier diary entitled “if only” asked me how long it took for me to compose the poem. They told me they thought the poem was really delicately written and they loved it very much. My answer towards the question they raised was enormously stunning to them. I told them I finished the poem within 15 minutes. They were shocked with eyes widely open, staring at me speechless. I nodded and shrugged my shoulder, saying, “yeah, no more than 15 minutes!” after being convinced again, they finally accepted the fact and said to me, “you are an awesome guy.” I just smiled to them without further explaining modestly. But now, I want to resort to this opportunity of writing my diary to elucidate my point why I can compose the seemingly good poem in 15 minutes.
Actually everyone who has read the poem might get the realization that it embodies not too many new words. Most of the words I used can be universally touched in our daily reading process. Hence to my mind, as long as you have the capability to compose a more-than-so-so articles, you have the ability to stream your poem through your pen. But the problem is how to compose a poem in a short time smoothly without even one-second break? My experience tells me the answer, that is sensation and inspiration. First of all, I need to clarify that we write poems not for the sake of poem itself. Poem is the way and medium that transmits our emotions and thinking as well as feelings, which precisely unveils the underlying premise of writing a poem, sensation and inspiration! Without keen observing eyes to probe into the surroundings and single out the wee differences between objects and affairs that can hardly be noticed by others, you will never have the innovative sensation and inspiration. After we acquire the feelings that strike our hearts tremendously, we can write a good poem with the aids of our sound English writing skills. Not everyone can be a poet, but everyone can be a poem-composer! You can choose you own way to write the poem regardless of grammatical rules to a large extent( but it does not mean you can throw away grammar totally) and flood your erupting feelings on the paper! Maybe compared with those masterpieces, your poem is somewhat less shining, but it is a unique work and merely belongs to you! To you, it is even more treasurable than those masterpieces! It is simply like the case that you love your offspring than any other child no matter how many shortcomings even physical defects they have!
Hence if you have an insightful thinking about something and are eager to write a poem, do not hesitate! Just pick up your pen and your idea will be carved eternally! |
