Despite not always knowing what exactly they mean, office workers admit to increasing use of jargon phrases.
Londoners are the worst for using jargon according to research
The "buzz words" around modern-day offices in Britain are that they are increasingly full of jargon.
"Thinking outside the box" and "it's a no brainer" are just two of the cliches that 44% of office workers admit to using.
And Londoners are the worst offenders for using such terminology, with more than 37% admitting they have used buzz words to impress their colleagues.
Employees in the East Midlands are the most straight-talking, according to a poll for Wonga.com , which is publishing a guide to straight talking, written by author Tim Phillips.
"There are two rules to good communication: say what you mean, and mean what you say. Employees often complain about jargon in the office and the notorious office 'waffler' who struggles to make a clear point through all the clichés.
"To break down the waffle, Britons should be more straight talking when conversing with their colleagues and stop pretending to think outside of that non-existent box."
Politicians and TV shows are also blamed for encouraging useless jargon, with workers blaming The Apprentice and Dragon's Den for encouraging their use of nonsensical phrases.
Many employees say they have picked up phrases from colleagues and men, in particular, admit they use them to increase their chances of promotion.
Surprisingly, while women do not go for that approach, the poll of more than 1, 000 people found they are guilty of using more business cliches in the workplace than their male counterparts.
