好久没写过雅思作文了，今天清晨看到一个正在和雅思苦苦扎挣的同学问我下面这个题目该怎么写，我想与其告诉她方法，不如直接写出来让她自己去体会更好。似乎好久没有参加大型的英语考试了，可能现在应试能力也降低了。前段时间听黄彬说，他想考国家二级翻译，问我考不考，我想我现在已经力不从心，对考试的激情也远不如从前。一方面我正在专注于自己想学的东西，比如说我的第二个专业会计，平时除了在外面工作以外还要学习挺多东西。越临近毕业我越想趁着在学校为数不多的时间里多看几页书，以后真正工作了可能就没有时间和心情来看了；另一方面现在学英语已经不如过去五六年那么有激情。依然记得高中时候的专注，大学三年的疯狂，如今进入大四的我，在经历了一系列的英语考试的洗礼，仿佛沉稳了好多。现在的我依旧喜欢英语，依旧把它当作是课外休闲娱乐的方式，依旧天天听英语新闻看英语文章，依旧写我的日记，依旧练习口语，然而这一切都是在平静中进行的，波澜不惊。想起之前的四六级考试，BEC中级和高级还有雅思，自己处于一种极度紧张的状态中与旁边的同学默默竞争着，我现在倒感到很宽慰，因为我没有把英语当成一种考试的工具，而是真正地把它融入到生活中去了。
这两年来在几个培训中心的教学似乎让我成了一个很专业的英语老师，虽然我的专业不是英语。依稀记得大一下学期教语法，后来教全国公共英语等级考试第三级，再后来教第四级，再后来教BEC中级的听说读写和雅思口语，最后这个学期又教了BEC的听说，教的过程也让我学到了不少的东西。每次教完一期课，我会有很大的自豪感，仿佛我真的成了“人类灵魂的工程师”。当然这个称号我受之有愧，我真正高兴的是我的学生在上完我的课以后都有了较大的提高，都对英语学习有了一个全新的认识和体会，这就够了。一个人的自学能力比什么好老师都重要。老师不可能一辈子带着你走，他只能带你领略旅途中的一处风景，剩下的漫漫长路还得靠你自己坚定地走下去。老师的任务是帮学生打好基础并授之以方法！
虽然我的水平有限，并不是什么硕士生，也不是什么教授，更没有得过什么全国大奖，但是我一直坚定地认为：真正的英语爱好者几乎是一天也离不开英语的。或者他没有专门地每天花几个小时认真地坐下来学，可是他就算再忙也会抽空听几分钟新闻，翻几页文章或者和别人聊几句英语，这也是一种学习。在英语角有不少的师弟师妹对我说他们很喜欢英语，只是社团啊学生会啊各种部门太多事了，他们没有空学。 有些英语角成员前几周都来了英语角，后来没有来了，发信息和我说他们太忙了所以没有空参加。对此我很有感触。我想，人之为学，最大的障碍就是自己为自己的懈怠找借口。我不否认当中确实有人是迫不得已才中途放弃英语角口语练习的，但是更多的，我想是无法坚持。时间每天一过，就再也不会回来。你今天没有学英语，那么比起学了的同学，你就落后一分。日积月累，水平就会相差越来越远，大学四年一过，懒散者与勤奋者水平可能相差十万八千里，到时悔之晚矣。所以我很佩服我以前教的在外面工作的成人学生。他们平时要忙着工作，晚上下班了还坚持来上课，很多人还问我很多问题。我记得去年有一个学生四十多岁了，在上我的公共英语四级的课程。第一次讲课时我看到他，有点吃惊。下课以后我用英语问他：“请恕老师我冒昧问一句，你年纪都不小了吧，怎么还来学英语啊？”他笑着和我说：“工作要用到。我现在很后悔大学没有认真学好，所以为了避免十年以后我后悔现在没有学好，所以我决定来学了！”简简单单的几句话，让我品味了半天。是的，我们老是会以年龄或者时间来做借口，说什么年纪大了，或者现在太晚了，然而世间就是有一种不向时间屈服的人，依然坚强地向上走着。要顶住工作的压力和外面世界的诱惑而静下心来求学，实属不易！所以我总是会对这样的学生说一句话：“单是这一点就注定了你们以后不是一个平凡的人！”思想境界的一点差异，可能造就了今后两个不同的世界。
我也有很多遗憾，遗憾大一没有开始学日语，以致到现在时间不够了；遗憾当初没有选国贸专业而跟随大众选了金融，学得泛而不精；遗憾没有及早准备CPA的考试，弄得现在狼狈不堪；遗憾之前没有应聘四大会计师事务所，现在看到几个同学都进了而感到后悔。然而我知道，单是后悔是无法解决问题的。与其后悔以前没有做什么，不如趁早亡羊补牢。就像我的那位学生所说的，我们现在后悔以前没有做某事，现在就要赶快去做，为了避免以后再次后悔！
当一个有某一门精通时，我们都应该由衷肠地敬佩他，因为只有过来人才会明白当中的不容易。同时也希望我们能成为其中的一个。

In the past, people used to travel to see the difference from their home country. However, the sceneries in places around the world seem similar nowadays. What are the causes of these similarities? Do you think that the advantages of this similarity outweigh the disadvantages?
As the topic implies, in the past, people used to travel to see the differences from their home country. Different places enjoy distinguished landscapes, which can tremendously cater to people’s needs and curiosity. However, nowadays, it appears that the sceneries in different places around the world tend to be similar. From my perspectives, there are several factors contributing to this phenomenon.
To begin with, with the global economy developing rapidly on the whole, the majority of the countries around the world are appreciating increasing urbanization. To be more specific, more and more rural areas and countryside are turning into cities where high buildings including skyscrapers soaring above the ground and meantime natural sceneries like forest and vegetation are gradually being eliminated. People may witness the same architectures and surroundings in different cities, especially in those famous tourist attractions, most of which are prominent cities. Therefore it is quite normal that we feel landscapes in different places tend to be similar. Secondly, some scenic places are of such a great popularity that many other places around the world would like to model their beauty to draw the public’s attention. A typical illustration is the Window of the World in Shenzhen City in China, in which a multitude of famous architectures have been rebuilt in a smaller size, such as Pyramids, the Great Wall and so forth. Therefore, people may come to the sense that many sceneries are becoming more and more similar.
In terms of the advantages and disadvantages of this phenomenon, I do believe that the former outweighs the latter. For one thing, as I have indicated above, the trend of similarity to a large extent connotes the improvement of people’s living standards. For another, we can still take the Window of the World as an instance. A large number of people around the world are still not well-off enough to afford the nationwide travel, not to mention worldwide one. With the similarity of different places, especially those well-known resorts, people can experience many of them at the same time without going one by one. For example, in China, Chinese people can have a general understanding of different famous buildings and places by touring the Window of the World. It is considerably time-saving and cost-saving. |
