Opportunities for Cooperation in Financial Crisis

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! It is my great honor to stand here and deliver my speech! After the financial crisis broke out, it swept through the whole world rapidly and pushed numerous companies into bankruptcy. We may all feel greatly stunned that a crisis initiated in Wall Street could have such a devastating impact on the globe! However, while we are focusing on the damage the crisis brought about, we should also see the great potential opportunities for cooperation with other nations.
In the past, America, Europe, Japan and some other developed countries dominated the global economy. However, in this financial crisis, most developed countries suffered a great loss and economic upheaval, which has greatly shaken their dominant position. Though China also underwent a hard time, its economy is still stable and increasing steadily all the time. The value of our currency is increasing little by little, which indicates the trust for our economic status from all over the world. Therefore, it is high time that we should cooperate with other nations to exert our influence on stabilizing the global economy. We can further expand our foreign direct investments in other countries, which can help their economy recover and meantime open the global market. It is a win-win strategy!
Besides cooperation in business, we can also cooperate in establishing a more comprehensive and stable financial system. The financial crisis has revealed some potential drawbacks in American current financial system and at the same time signaled some advantages in our own. For example, in the past, we had been worshipping the American financial system which claimed to be open and optimistic and blamed our own to be too conservative. But suppose if we had totally opened our foreign exchange market, we may have suffered greater loss than developed countries in this crisis. But how to strike a balance between “optimistic” and “conservative” in establishing the financial system? All the heads of nations should sit together to discuss the issue. Through cooperation, I firmly believe a more comprehensive and innovative system will be reached and the global economy will embrace another spring soon!
Altogether, I believe, where there is crisis, there is opportunity. The most important thing is whether we can recognize and catch it! Since the winter of financial crisis comes, will the spring of our better development be far away? Thank you very much for your listening! |
