He was once a senior government official in Egypt. When he was 34, he had become a vice mayor and a rosy future was greeting to him. However, when he was up his career ladder, he was dismissed due to a severe fire that took place in the city he was in charge of. He was 37 at that time. After he resigned from his position, all his friends, including celebrities, rich men, government officials, directors of consortia, etc, felt sorry for him and thought he must feel very sorrowful and would come to them for help. But out of anyone’s expectation, he came back to the countryside and led an ordinary life.
He planted vegetables, fertilized the soils and caught worms in his small garden, living an ordinary but satisfactory life. When he was free, he would take a stroll around the village or streets and collect some folk potteries as a hobby. He lived his own plain life happily other than to care about others’ wealth and envy their rich lives.
Thanks to his rich knowledge and excellent talents, he quickly became a elite in the field of collection. After 7 or 8 years, he had already possessed dozens of world-class folk treasures. Numerous buyers flocked to his house and ever piece of work he sold was priced at more than ten million dollars.
Some people asked him, “How could you accomplish such a great achievement in collection?” He answered calmly, “Because I live a very simple life and never envy others blindly. The tranquil life has rendered me a focused heart on identifying potteries.”
Not envying others’ lives not only got him rid of troubles, but also helped him to push his collection to the top of the world, thereby making him a world-renowned collector.
Wang Zhangcheng was a 22-year-old Chinese-American mathematician graduating from University of California. After graduation, unlike most of his classmates who went to the big consortia or companies, he plunged himself into a private lab in California and engaged in his own studies for ten years. During these ten years, he lived on a very slim salary and could not even afford a house at the age of 30, while his classmates could earn a salary of hundreds of thousands of dollars, even a million! They drove luxurious cars and lived in splendid houses with their beautiful wives. But Wang even did not have a girlfriend. Nonetheless, he did not envy others and only showed interest in his own cause. Though his life was terribly inferior to others, he did not have any realization about this. In others’ eyes, Wang’s life was less than worst!
But anyway, Wang did not care about all these and only highly focused on his studies during the past ten years. When he reached 35, he managed to solve the two top-level math problems in the world successfully. Since then, dozens of prominent universities in America competed to employ him as a lecturer. After many years of hard work, he was dubbed the King of Math in the world.
Paul was keen on photography since he was a child. After graduation from college, he was crazy about photography, so much so that he did not want to work. Therefore, he lived a very simple life, but he hardly cared about his well-being, rich or poor. What he needed was photographing. He wore ragged pants and ate the cheapest burgers. In others’ eyes, he was the symbol of poverty. However, he felt very happy every day.
At the age of 27, his photography culminated to the world level and he was acknowledged as a superb photographer. Then he was invited to take photos for the British prime minister. Since then, his career was rocketing. So far, he has taken photos for more than 100 presidents and prime ministers around the world. Moreover, numerous celebrities are still lining up for his service and it is fairly normal to wait for one or two years before they can access the service.
As he never cared about others’ life, he could truly live his own life and worked his own cause free from disturbance from the outside world, thus achieving a huge accomplishment.
