深圳大学   赖小琪
Tomorrow evening I am going to address a lecture about the preparation for the BEC exam, which makes me somewhat tight-nerved, because I have not given any lecture before. This lecture is organized by the academic department of the students’ union subject to our business school. I feel so valued and honored when asked to conduct the job, because I have been wondering whether I am truly qualified to deliver a speech to so many English talents in our school. Actually I still have not poised too much for the lecture, therefore I have to count on my right-then reaction. But I do have confidence that I can give some practical and constructive advice to the present and perspective candidates.
Since I established the English corner, it has been more than one year. During this gleeful and impressive journey, I realize that my English level and managerial abilities have been fully acknowledged and tremendously elevated. I speak far more than ever before, which renders my spoken English more fluent and perfect. It also rewards me with a number of working opportunities that enable me to put my English into practice such as translating business reports, doing interpreting job in the fair center and so on. Now I am becoming more and more prominent within and outside our school and even some companies ask me to do some English-relevant jobs for them. I know there are more and more opportunities waiting for me in the future. What I need to do is go all out to further promote myself to open my arms to these chances!
Though I will feel great superiority in the English corner due to my above-average English, I still feel guilty and awkward fairly often, because there are also a lot of super English learners there. Some of them are extremely expert in spoken English, which puts on me great pressure and the motivation to learn. There will never be the most excellent one in my English corner, but better one! I realize the way is too long to walk to the end. So many times I have to ponder over my English learning process and methods, thinking whether there is something to revise or improve. Competition, needless to say, tends to give me tremendous oppression, but meantime, it also instill me with enormous power that drives me to my ideal destination. That is the reason why I love the kind of life full of competitions and challenges.
Ok, since it is late now, I am gonna stop here. Best wishes to my lecture tomorrow!
